Missy has led the show jumping and equitation training ranks for years. She and her husband John Brennan own North Run, which is located in Warren, VT and Wellington, FL.
Missy grew up in East Aurora, NY where she learned to ride under the watchful eye of her mother, Doris Clark, a locally renowned horsewoman. Together, they began their business, Fox Run LTD. Missy later went off on her own and started North Run. As a junior rider, Missy was a working student for Chuck Graham, a well-known Buffalo, NY professional. She then rode jumpers with George Morris and Rodney Jenkins, and spent some time working for Jimmy Lee.
Missy’s strong roots in the US equitation system has helped her and the North Run team to produce a long list of top riders. Many have gone on to win at the Grand Prix level and have represented their respective countries in Nations Cup competitions including:
USA 🇺🇸 Sheila Burke, Hillary Dobbs, Charlie Jayne, Michael Morrissey, Michael Hughes, Marilyn Little, Hardin Towell, Catherine Tyree, Eve Jobs, Zazou Hoffman
Canada 🇨🇦 Erynn Ballard, Chris Delia, Brian Walker, Sam Walker
Ireland 🇮🇪 Darragh Kenny
Argentina 🇦🇷 Tomi Yofre
In the equitation finals, North Run riders have won a total of 65 National Championships or Reserve titles. The most recent being Ava Stearns who won the 2019 ASPCA Maclay National Championship and Sam Walker who won the 2019 WIHS Equitation Finals.
Missy’s involvement in the sport goes beyond coaching and training. She’s on the Board of Directors for the North American Riders Group (NARG) and serves on several USEF and USHJA committees including the jumper committee and the equitation committee.
Missy and John are also actively involved with the Kevin Babington Foundation and both sit on the Board of Directors. Missy also founded The Dandelion Fund which is linked to Danny and Ron’s Rescue.
