​John joined North Run in 1999 and has been an integral part of the team with his wife, Missy Clark, training many of the equitation/hunter and show jumping superstars of the 2000s. 

John is originally from county Kildare in Southern Ireland. His love for horses and riding started at an early age under the tutelage of Iris Kellett and John Hall. John came to the United States in 1987 along with Kevin Babington, and ended up working for Jay Shuttleworth for two years. He ran his own business in Connecticut for ten years prior to joining North Run. Missy and John were married in 2003. 

 

John plays an active role in the business, doing much of the riding and training along with Missy. He has served as Chef d’Equipe for many North American Young Riders and Junior Young Riders teams for Zone 1. Additionally, he’s currently Chef d’Equipe for the Zone 1 Prix des States team at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. John is also an active member of the North American Riders Group and serves on several committees for the USEF.
