Sammy was born into a family of professionals and grew up riding under the tutelage of her father, Kim Perlman and her uncle, David Perlman. They trained Sammy during her junior years in the hunter, jumper and equitation rings.

Sammy’s junior career took her up and down the East Coast where she competed successfully at shows including: Devon, Capital Challenge, Junior Hunter Finals, ASPCA Maclay Regionals, Harrisburg and the National Horse Show.  She was able to gain a wealth of knowledge from many professionals over the years as she relied heavily on catch rides and riding sale horses.

Sammy accepted an NCAA scholarship to ride on the equestrian team at New Mexico State University where she helped the team to their conference title in 2016. Throughout college Sammy worked seasonally for North Run. She went on to graduate with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Sports Marketing. After graduating from NMSU, Sammy joined North Run full-time as an assistant trainer in 2019.
